Your withdrawal
What this solves
The Travelex ATM at Zürich airport charges 12 CHF on a 200 CHF withdrawal. A UBS ATM with a Revolut card may cost you CHF 1.50. That's an 8x difference on the same CHF. This tool shows the real cost of each combination.
How to read
- Foreign card FX fee = the % your bank charges for non-home-currency. Wise/Revolut 0%, Capital One 0%, standard Visa 1–2%.
- ATM operator fee = what the ATM owner (UBS, PostFinance, Travelex) charges for an "out of network" withdrawal.
- Cash advance fee = a credit card's "cash advance" surcharge, typically 3% plus interest from day 1.
Limitations
- Wise/Revolut cards may have a CHF withdrawal cap (Revolut Standard: CHF 200/month free, then 0.5%).
- Some banks (US, AU) charge an extra fee for "international ATM use" even on no-FX cards — not always visible at the ATM.
- Foreign ATMs sometimes offer to convert to your home currency (DCC) at terrible rates — always choose to pay in CHF, never in EUR/GBP/USD.
FAQ
Is paying by card better than ATM?
Almost always. Card acceptance is 95%+ in Switzerland, and your card's no-FX-rate is often the best rate you'll get. Withdraw only if you need cash for huts/markets.
What's the minimum withdrawal?
Most Swiss ATMs have a CHF 100 minimum (UBS, PostFinance). Raiffeisen allows CHF 50. Travelex holds the maximum — CHF 500+ per transaction.
