What this solves
Many tourists plan an alpine hut tour 1 week in advance and find every hut fully booked. The Monte Rosa Hütte sells out 3 hours after reservations open for July dates — opening in ~3 months prior. This tool tells you when to be online (literally) to book.
How to read
- Open date = when reservations for your date become bookable.
- Book within hours = the time window after opening in which popular dates sell out.
- Alternatives: if missed, list 2-3 nearby huts that are usually less booked.
Limitations
- Some huts open exactly 90 days before date. Others (Monte Rosa) open the day the season calendar is set, in January.
- Some huts give "yellow light" — you can request a date but the hut guardian confirms. Adds 1-7 days.
FAQ
Can I just show up without a reservation?
Possible at small huts; at premium huts the guardian will redirect you. Better to call ahead.
