Your itinerary
Enter each travel day with full-price fare. We compare three strategies.
What this solves
Every Switzerland pass comparison page on the internet assumes you take one round-trip from Zürich to Jungfraujoch and calls it done. Real trips are multi-destination, multi-day, with boat trips, trams and discounted lifts mixed in. This comparator runs every leg under each scenario and tells you which one wins for your days.
It also surfaces the trap nobody warns you about: the Swiss Travel Pass doesn't include cable cars — only trains, trams and most boats. Most mountains are 25–50% off with STP, not free.
How to read the results
- Best for short stays (3 days): the Saver Day Pass is almost always cheapest IF you're only travelling on 1 of those 3 days.
- Best for medium trips (4–6 days): Swiss Travel Pass continuous or Flex wins if you ride trains on 3+ of those days.
- Best for long trips (8+ days): STP continuous is almost always best; the 15-day STP works out to about CHF 19/day.
Limitations
- Saver Day Pass prices vary by demand (CHF 52–88 in 2nd class; this comparator uses those bounds).
- Supersaver tickets are not modelled. If you're flexible on time, Supersaver can beat everything.
- Cable car discounts with STP vary by operator and aren't always exactly 50% — Jungfraujoch is around 25%, Titlis is 50%, Pilatus is free in summer.
- Children: ages 6–16 with a parent + STP = free. With SDP = half price. That's a real difference for families.
FAQ
What's the difference between "continuous" and "Flex"?
Flex lets you pick which days you activate within the validity window (e.g. 3 days within 1 month). Flex costs CHF 30–60 more than continuous. Continuous is just sequential from activation.
Does STP cover the Jungfraujoch?
No train pass covers the full Jungfraujoch fare. STP gives you 25% off (CHF 191 instead of 254 in 2026). Half Fare + Supersaver still beats this.
Where do I buy the Saver Day Pass?
Only at sbb.ch. There are no third-party resellers and any site pretending to sell them at a "discount" is reselling an unverified dataset.

About this tool
Purpose: settle the STP-vs-Saver debate using your real itinerary, not a generic example.
Limitations: assumes full-price (not Supersaver) fares. If you're willing to lock down to a specific train, Supersaver can beat both passes — but you lose flexibility, which is often the whole point of buying a pass.
